What it does
Smart christmas tree lights hang 400 addressable LEDs over your tree in one go, with a star on top. Past Decembers meant winding one string around the tree branch by branch. Here a green ring hub sits at the tree top, the star fits on it, and about 16 vertical strands drape down the outside like a cone. Plug in the controller lead and change colors, effects and music from the remote or your phone.
This set turns a tree into one lit shape from the top down. A green ring hub sits at the tree top with a hole in the middle, the star fits on it, and about 16 vertical strands hang from the hub down the outside of the tree like a cone, spreading to the bottom. The 400 LEDs are RGBIC, so each LED holds its own color and the tree glows in gradients from top to bottom. Brightness is adjustable, and the light source is LED bulbs.
Set-up is the same each time: put the hub on the tree top, drape the strands down over the branches, fit the star on the hub, and plug in. Power comes at 5 V DC through a USB plug or through a mains adapter with a US plug, depending on the version. A handheld remote is included, and you can also use the phone app to change colors, effects, brightness and music mode. Length versions run 1.8 m and 2.1 m, with 400 LEDs.
It suits a tree where you want one shape of light and control from the couch. The strands hang vertically, so if you like winding a single string in a spiral around the tree, this set does not work that way. Every version has a power lead, so the tree needs to sit near a USB port or a mains socket. The set carries ROHS, UL and CE marks.

It arrived very quickly, working perfectly, but the app is quite limited with few effects and always disconnects from the blinker.

Top but symbols really don't look good for illumination and effects, it's fine but for text and figures you can't see them.
They are not careful, they sent me the wrong item, it was supposed to be 400 lights and 1.8M, but they sent another one that is 1.57M.
If you straighten it well, it will be about half a meter; there's no 1.80 as the seller says.

No. Every version has a power lead: a USB plug at 5 V, or a mains adapter with a US plug. The tree has to sit within reach of a USB port or a wall socket.
