What it does

The smart bluetooth light bulb goes into the table lamp you use every night, and from the couch you pick a color on the phone's color wheel, drag the brightness slider, and the room looks the way you want it before you settle in.

This bulb is a color and white light source for a lamp you already own. The phone app pairs over Bluetooth and gives you a color wheel, a brightness slider, preset swatches and tabs for Adjust, Music, Tape, Style and Timing. Pick a color and hold it, bring the white channel up for ordinary light, or slide the brightness anywhere in the range. Output runs 300-1500 lm depending on the version you choose.

Setting it up is one motion: thread the E27 base into the socket, switch the socket on, then control the bulb from the phone app over Bluetooth or from the 28-key W28 infrared remote. The bulb draws everything from the socket. It has no cable, no charging lead, no batteries and no USB input.

These smart light bulbs suit anyone who wants color and dimming in a table or floor lamp and is happy to control the light from the room. Bluetooth control needs the phone within range of the bulb. The bulb does not fit a bayonet mount or a small screw base, and it will not run from a battery or a USB port. Choose RGBW for cool white or RGBWW for warm white, and choose the 15 W Bluetooth version for phone control or the 10 W remote-control version for the handheld remote.
